Some Furniture Switch-A-Roo

So, when we redid the studio we were left with one giant piece of furniture misplaced.  Remember my secretary desk?

Well, it seemed only logical from my chair redo from the DIY Action Squad that the desk go to the guest room! After all, there was already a chair that matched in there. Also, the smaller dresser that was in there would really look better in the future nursery. I mean, there's no onesies to put in it yet, but smaller clothes deserve a smaller dresser, right?

So, we moved the little dresser to the future nursery and put the secretary in the guest room. But then I noticed how dark the room was without that mirror. How I missed it so. I began prowling Craigslist and found this huge mirror for $25. SCORE.

I got it all nested and looking pretty and thought I should share with the class. But I am feeling like I might paint some of it or re-stain it all since the woods are off- but the dresser has had a shit ton of lacquer put over it. Unpleasant. But for now, this is good enough.

And here's the desk's nifty little trick.

And when the desk isn't being used, the chair slips back into it's corner to be used as the other night stand!

I'm really happy with the switch! Bigger mirror = more light, and the secretary still gives us two drawers to stash sheets and things in.

What do you think of it?

  2. Fun and functional. Works. I think the mirror is fine. Don't get all matchy matchy with wood finishes. Charm is in the "collection" aspect of an old home. Let it be. (Yeah. I did that. Paul reference before 10am.)

  3. I love the shape of that dresser. And that it's also a desk. So sneaky!

  6. That is a super cool desk!!! I would NOT paint it though!! Check out the cleaning job they did on a new TV console on YHL using Magic Sponges and vinegar. It could make all the difference. Paint the mirror though - that might add the splash you need. The yellow from the bedding might look really cool.

    1. Hey Lady! I saw the YHL Thing, the issue with that is that you can't use that on a finished surface. It will wipe the shine right off! I was thinking maybe some yellow dipped legs or something. It will be sitting pretty until I make a decision. :)
