Bigger is Better

One thing that we've been hesitant to do since we moved was to upgrade to a larger rug in the living room. We knew we needed one, but we wanted to make sure we knew the direction we were going in the living room before we made the investment.

Then I got my wonderful World Market Explorer newsletter that had a wonderful "RUGS UP TO 50% OFF" pasted right in center stage. We thought we'd go just to see what we could snag in the 6x9 range. We had a 5x7 in there, also from World Market, but it made it look like the chair wasn't part of the living room.

We couldn't believe it when we found a 6x9 nude jute rug marked down to $110 when the exact same rug was next door at Home Goods for $350.

We brought it home to see if we actually wanted a bigger rug or if it would just shrink the room and when we laid it down we decided we loved the coziness that gave the room. We do lose a lot of the hardwood, but the dogs have liked having somewhere to lay down while they play and it makes the room feel less disjointed. My only complaint is I wish that it was a foot wider so we could tuck it under the sectional easier- but the coffee table and recliner have done a good enough job keeping it in place.

Oh, also, THE SUN CAME OUT! I've spent the last three days with all the windows open enjoying the natural daylight.

It's amazing what a simple change like a rug can do to a space. We also sold the old rug on craigslist for $30 so that made the switch even more affordable!

What simple changes have you made lately?

    1. A rug can either make or break a room- I understand your fear. I also live with the comfort of knowing that if I chose the wrong one that rugs really only have about a 2 year life expectancy in this house. :)
